I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you in more detail:
My name is John van Riemsdijk, born in Rotterdam on 24 July 1966.
In daily life, I am a shop security officer by profession in the centre of Rotterdam. A versatile and social profession in which I come into contact with many people.
Besides my work as a shop security guard, I am involved daily, in my spare time, in genealogical research.
I started genealogical research when I was 19 in which, initially, I limited my research to paternal ancestors. Back then, there was no Internet. I designated on archive visits in different parts of the country for my research.
With regularity, I could be found at the State Archives in Arnhem, the Municipal Archives in Rotterdam or the Central Bureau of Genealogy in The Hague.
From the moment many sources were digitised, it was easier for me to devote myself to genealogical research, especially after working hours. Not everything was digitally accessible, which meant that, in some cases, archive visits were still necessary.

Besides my personal pedigree, you will find several parentages of the oldest known ancestors in my pedigree.
You can also view several albums presenting old photos, portraits, coats of arms of related families, newspaper reports and various documents.
